CURIOSITIES
Bodegas Mauro is the first family winery of Mariano García in Castilla y León (since Maurodos is hosted in the denomination of Toro). It is named as a tribute to his father, Mauro García.
Bodegas Mauro was founded in 1980, two years before the D.O. Ribera del Duero was constituted, but Bodegas Mauro was excluded from the Denomination of Origin for strictly geographical reasons at the time of its constitution, because the historical arguments of the vineyards of Tudela de Duero were not considered sufficient.
The vineyards of Bodegas Mauro are from the time of the Austrians (1562, Philip II) and were exempted from paying taxes for their excellent quality. On the other hand, Mauro has always maintained strict quality guidelines and, freed from the rigidity of the D.O., has been able to take advantage of producing wines of great potential.
They have 35 hectares. of vineyards in the municipalities of Tudela de Duero and Santibáñez de Valcorba.
