Artazu is one of the wineries belonging to Artadi which is, in fact, the name with which the co-operative Cosecheros Alaveses is known, a joint project of high design in which several winegrowers partners bet to show that the wine of cosechero could also reach Be a great wine. Founded in the early 90's by the family Arzuaga Navarro, the winery bearing his name are an example of dedication and passion for land and wine.
Florentino Arzuaga Navarro, near a silent Duero, bought a farm, for its size, has its own horizon. Then came the stock, the wine cellar and then, a red as he liked, with a skeleton but elegant, round and complex at once.
In 1750, Don Antonio de Ayala y Vergara, a Spanish aristocrat, was appointed Chancelor (Finance Minister) of New Grenada (now Colombia) by King Ferdinand VI of Spain. His son signs peace with Simon Bolivar. His grandson comes to France as the Consul of Colombia.
Then comes Edmond de Ayala (1831-1902), who is invited to Champagne by the Viscount of Mareuil to learn the business. He falls in love with the Viscount's niece, the beautiful Miss Gabrielle d'Albrecht.
